October 15 - Nittany Fall Fest for Penn State Families
On Saturday, October 15, the Lions won't be playing (bye week), so your alumni chapter has planned a new-and hopefully annual-outing for you and your family to enjoy that day:

What: Nittany Fall Fest
When: Saturday, October 15, 11:30 am (arrive) - 4:00 pm
Where: Apple Jacks Orchards - 4875 37th Street SE, Delano, MN 55328
(See below for directions and link to Apple Jack's website.)

It'll be a day for the whole family (children welcome!) to enjoy the fun at Apple Jack's.

Located along the Crow River, just 30 minutes west of Minneapolis, Apple Jack Orchards offers a variety of pick-your-own fall treats, including apples, raspberries, squash, and pumpkins (Halloween's coming; pick your pumpkin here!). Other entertainment includes a hay bale pyramid with slide, a mini-maze and play area for tots, wagon rides, a cow train, an apple cannon and slingshots, a huge jumping pillow, and a seven-acre corn maze! A 100-year old barn provides beautiful views of the river; inside are an apple market featuring a wide range of produce, a gift shop stocked with seasonal décor and more food products, and the Apple Pantry Café & Bakery, where you can enjoy lunch and yummy bakery treats.

At 11:30 AM, we'll assemble in Apple Jack's parking lot; look for the Nittany Lion banner. If you arrive later, just look for people wearing Penn State colors. The chapter will pay for one admission to an activity of your choice (a $3 value). At noon, we'll gather for lunch and a group picture on the terrace (the Orchard does not allow carry-in food, so we'll patronize its Café). From there the day is yours to enjoy with your family and, of course, other Penn Staters.

We think this event will be a great social outing for our alumni families and Nittany Lions big and small. Hope to see you there!

*** Football TV Tailgates ***

Attention all Penn State Football Fans!

Join us this fall at our new location, Poor Richard's Commonhouse, each and every Saturday for our TV Tailgates watching Penn State Football. Come out every week for great fun, football and camaraderie with fellow Penn Staters! Poor Richard's is the THE Penn State Bar / Restaurant for the Twin Cities. We look forward to seeing you at Poor Richard's every Saturday this fall!

*** LIONS A.K.A. BINGO! ***

If you came out to any of our TV Tailgates over the past five seasons, you would know that we play the award winning game of LIONS during the football games. Similar in concept to BINGO (and stolen from the Minnesota Twin's version of TWINGO) - watch for certain plays and events to take place on the field and mark them off on your card. Score 5 in a row and win LIONS! Each sheet contains two game cards and are just $1 per sheet with proceeds going to the PSUMN Past President's Scholarship. There will be weekly prizes and also a grand prize at the end of the season.

*** 2016-2017 Scholarship Awarded ***

We are thrilled to announce that the 2016 Past Presidents’ Endowed Scholarship Award recipient is Emma Matthys. Emma is a junior advertising major at University Park. She is very grateful for the award but could not attend our BBQ Picnic / Student Send-off because she's in New York City doing an internship. This year's scholarship is being awarded in honor of Jim Gibson, a past president of the chapter.

*** Shopping? ***

Are you a regular shopper? By a very small action, you can help contribute to our scholarship fund by just doing your ordinary shopping at Amazon through a special link! The best part is, the prices you find on Amazon are exactly the same - there is no markup, so you have no reason to not help us out this year when shopping on Amazon.
