*** Annual Big Ten (Alumni) Softball Tournament - August 23, 2008 ***
Once again, our faithful softball players showed up to play in the Annual Alan Paige Softball Tournament. We got off to a rocky start (mainly due to the fact that the webmaster distributed the wrong address and thus not everyone made it on time) and ended up losing a very close game to Ohio State/Wisconsin. A team full of Lions in the lineup for the second game easily won over Iowa. The third game was close, but we still ended up losing to Indiana (who only had 3 Alumni on their team!!!) Unfortunately due to the tie breaker rules, Penn State did not make the afternoon playoffs. We are eagerly looking forward to revenge next year!

*** 2008 Silent Auction Results ***
We are pleased to annouce that this year we raised a grand total of $993 for the Daniel S. Johnson Scholarship fund given yearly to local Minnesota students attending Penn State. The silent auction raised $628, $290 was donated by proceeds of the evening ticket sales and we had an additional $75 donation. Thank you to all who donated their time, money, and efforst for this worthy cause. We're also pleased to make a $50 donation to the scholarship in honor of Roger Williams.

*** Saint Paul Saints (7/20) ***
Sixteen Alumni enjoyed a beautiful Friday evening for some outdoor baseball at the Saint Paul Saints. While cheering on the Saints to a victory of their divisional rival was fun, the meeting of friends old and new was even better. For those who weren't able to make it this year, we'll be planning another night out with the Saints in 2008.

*** Feed My Starving Children Recap ***
On April 28th, 2007, 23 members of the PSAA MN chapter participated in our first service event of the year at the Feed My Starving Children facility in Chanhassen. Feed My Starving Children is a Christian-based organization that packs nutritious, shelf-stable meals in the US then ships them all over the world in an attempt to help fight hunger. Due to the positive feedback from this first outing, the PSAA MN board has agreed to make a monetary donation to Feed My Starving Children, and we plan to try and pack meals again in the fall and the winter. For those of you who participated the first time, we hope to see you back. For those of you who haven't, we'd love to have you! Visit our Feed My Starving Children page for more information about the event

*** 2007 PSU Night Out on the Town Recap ***
Thank you to all who participated in our Penn State Night Out on the Town this past Sunday night. For those of you who were not able to make the event this year, you missed out on a great presentation and speech by Roger Williams, the Penn State Alumni Association Executive Director.
Roger spoke at great length about the goals of the Alumni Association, how they're achieving those goals and provided many statistics on how Penn State compares to universities across the nation in areas such as Alumni Membership, student applications, and athletic graduation rates. Roger also updated us on some of the new buildings on campus and gave us a glimpse of the 07-08 Football team.
If anyone has any feedback, comments or suggestions regarding the Annual Dinner or Silent Auction, please email Marilyn Binkley.
